Who am I (actually)?

Well, actually I have written a few articles about who I am and how I came to be the way I am. But I just want to add that my day starts and ends with cats, everyday -- rain or shine.

Only during what is left --the middle of the day -- I devote to my needs like learning HTML or fix refrigerators for people.

Believe me even during the period after the cats have their breakfast in the morning and before I feed them their dinners in the evening, I could not turn a blind eye and go on to do my things without worrying about the cats just because it's a time to be me.

If, for instance, I spot a kitten with an eye infection I have to attend to it without delay. Small cats before they reach adulthood are very vulnerable; they tend to have rashes which resemble sandy skins. Eye infection follows. First left, then right eye. The eyes will be sealed by a glue-like substance similar to rice-based glue. Unless the affected eye is attended to by using water to soften the glue and open the eye in time, usually the cat loses that eye due to puss formation

The place to watch out for whether a kitten is affected is around the mouth, ears, behind them usually, and areas around their chins, bellies or the back of their paws.

Simply look for thinning of furs; if there are bald patches, hurry and have your cats (kittens, mostly) treated or she would suffer before eventually dying in a short while.

This treatment, however, can be done at home by yourself

Here is what you have to do. Go to a pharmacy and buy a bottle of 20 or 30ml of POVIDONE IODINE; clean the affected part (don't forget to clean the affected part) and apply the dark liquid to your kittens. Don't worry you can apply even around the mouth or the eyes (no harm will come to your cats.

So, as you can see caring for my seventy cats is not simple. It's like my life revolves around cats. It does not. To clear a few things up, I am not a cat or dog protector -- I am an animal protector.

And if I come across an animal, say a bird, in trouble (a chick may drop from a nest up the tree and keeps flapping its wings to get airborne without success), I consider it my responsibility to help the bird.

I know instantly unless I pick it up, and fast, some car Tyre may flatten it into a dried squid in no time.

In one such incident (among many)when I went to see my regular vet by the name of Dr. Yeoh Oon Tat, I was called upon by God to save a bird, a chick, again.

Some people cannot find in themselves to help save an animal even if they see one. They may even run over the flapping bird! They can steel themselves to turn a blind eye but I can't. So, God will wait until I come along, if you will, before making it happen.

I picked up the chick despite realizing what would entail if I wanted to grow it into adulthood and eventually return to the wild.

It had to be put in a large cage so it could learn to fly.

In the end I successfully grew the bird to adulthood and later released it into a nearby forest at Bukit Dumbar.

I have no way of knowing if the animal survived or became a python's dinner, but at least it had tasted adulthood albeit most of it in a cage.

I even sometimes offered to build large cages for people for free; they only had to pay the cost of the materials. I was prepared to waste two or three days of my precious time because they agreed to keep the birds only to allow them to grow big enough to fly back into the wild, not a day longer.

Needless to say, through thus efforts and other efforts such as convincing people to view keeping birds in cages like sentencing them to life imprisonment, I managed to save many lives.

That, in a nutshell, described me.

So, if you're looking for someone to really care for animals, be it dogs, cats, birds, or even snakes -- or whatever animals that happen to need help, I am the one. I am from Georgetown around around MacAlister Road and Datuk Keramat areas very near to Komptar. All are welcome to visit me. Ask for David who cares for the cats.
